A.I.D.S. Resources

Here are some good AIDS resources that will help you understand this disease better and what we can do about it. Instead of doing a report on each of these, I wanted to keep them together in one post.

The aWAKE Project is a great "intro" to AIDS. "aWAKE" stands for: AIDS: working towards awareness, knowledge, and engagement. It has contributors from all walks of life (political, religious, entertainment, etc.). It also contains contacts of organizations that are helping orphans and mothers of AIDS victims in Africa. Part of the proceeds for this book go towards fighting AIDS.

Both Patrick Dixon's books are also good "intro" books with a lot more medical content (since he is a doctor), and "The Truth About AIDS" book also offers some practical ways to raise awareness to your peers and communities.

Arterburn's book is a true story account of a man's struggle with homosexuality and AIDS, and Write's "My Rose" book is a story of an African American woman's encounter. I wanted to include a male and a female's perspective on this issue.

And each of the websites listed below will offer a great deal of information and/or application of how we can help those who are suffering with AIDS and the nations involved.
